Workgroup education Africa

The workshop of the Thematic Groupe Education & Vocational Training of the West Africa Division has been held on the 20th and 21st of February 2012 in Fada N’Gourma (Burkina Faso). The event allowed SDC representatives both from the headquarters and the Coordination Bureaus of the regions as well as several partners to make a summary of the group activities and to define new perspectives for 2012 and 2013.

Some of the highlights were the presentation of the regional instrument for vocational training (Eastern regions of Burkina Faso), which made reference to innovative programs both in terms of procedures and institutional framework. Thus the RAFPA program combines dual vocational training with literacy. Monitored by the Union of Craftsmen from Gulmu (UAG), the efficiency of its implementation lays namely on the practice of “to get it done” and the attribution of mandates to partners (from the South and the North) for specific tasks including training engineering, literacy, etc. The strength of the program lays also on the agreements between the stakeholders and the coordination of actions through the implication of technical services and the communities.
