About the network
Education is one of the seven priority issues defined in the “Federal Council Dispatch on the Continuation of Technical Cooperation and Financial Assistance for Developing Countries”, which was adopted by the Swiss parliament for the 2008-2012 period. The SDC focuses its efforts on basic education for children, young people and adults. It strives, however, to adopt a holistic view of education systems which includes the role of vocational skills development. The SDC formalised its approach in its "Strategy for Basic Education and Vocational Skills Development" (see below). For information and resources specific to vocational skills development, please refer to the Employment and Income Network.
The Education Network website contains information on (1) various topics of strategic importance for the SDC, (2) the work done by the SDC and its close partners, and (3) what is happening in the area of education. It also provides other useful information and resources (such as consultant contact information, tools, etc.).
This website was designed to help members. So please submit useful information and documents – or even just suggestions – to Fabienne Lagier or Rosemarie Lausselet. Feel free to ask questions or send comments as well.
You can also contact us if you wish to receive the newsletter, which provides regular updates on education at the SDC and at the international level.
SDC employees have access to a restricted area containing information and documents for internal use only (currently being developed). A password will be provided to employees upon request.
